Sun, rain and road salt wear asphalt down a little more every year. A fresh coat of commercial grade sealer locks water and UV back out, brings the deep black color back, and adds years before you need to think about repaving.
Cracks and potholes only get worse once water works its way in and freezes. We fill cracks, patch the rough spots, and when a driveway is past saving we pave a new one from the base up.
A driveway is only as good as what sits under it. We grade and compact a solid gravel base, shape it so water runs off, and set granite or Belgian block edging where you want a clean, finished border.
